The Sony A7R V Body delivers exceptional image resolution with a 61.0 megapixel image sensor paired with BIONZ XR image processor with an AI processing unit this camera produces the highest resolution images in α history at low sensitivity with greater auto-exposure control and colour reproduction.
Combining Sony’s industry leading Real-time Tracking AF with an all-new AI processing unit, brings the next evolution of autofocus performance in a full-frame mirrorless camera. Unprecedented AF speed and accuracy is now achievable, while unlocking a new suite of subject and object recognition. The AI processing unit utilises deep learning AI to process immense volumes of image data, delivering breathtaking results. Additionally, with the AI processing unit, auto white balance accuracy has been substantially improved.
Utilising the high resolution image sensor, the Alpha 7R V is capable of capturing stunning 8K HDR footage at 24/25 frames per second and 4K 50/60p movie recording in full-frame format. 4K (QFHD 3840x2160) 30p/25p/24p with 6.2K oversampling without pixel binning in Super 35mm format is also made possible.
A newly developed 4-axis multi-angle LCD monitor can be freely adjusted in both a tilt-able direction or side open. This flexibility provides excellent operability for both high-resolution shooting and video recording with the multi-angle screen or the Class leading 9.44 mil dot QXGA EVF.
Alpha 7R V's Mode Dial has been redesigned to the two-tier design, as seen in the Alpha 7 IV. The bottom dial shifts between Stills, Movie, and S&Q. The top dial changes the mode. This design allows fluid and fast in-the-field changes between photo and video mode.
The camera is further enchanced with an upgraded 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system which delivers up to 8.0-step stabilisation, two Dual CFe-Type A & SD Card media slots, up to 10 fps burst with AF/AE tracking, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO, SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2), UVC/UAC USB streaming, dust and moisture resistance, a new anti-dust system with shutter-close when off and a reliable mechanical shutter.
As has become the expectation of the Alpha R series, the Alpha 7R V delivers on exceptional image resolution. The 61.0 megapixel image sensor paired with the BIONZ XR image processor delivers the highest resolution in α history at low sensitivity with greater auto-exposure control and colour reproduction. Additionally, with the AI processing unit, auto white balance accuracy has been substantially improved.
Pixel Shift Multi Shoot Upgraded
When using the new Imaging Edge Desktop™ PC application, images which were captured using Pixel Shift Multi Shoot are automatically detected, and corrections for small pixel movements, such as people, clouds and leaves, are made during compositing. By taking advantage of Pixel Shift Multi Shoot, images can be captured at 240.8 megapixels with greater RGB data accuracy.
Multi-resolution and multi-RAW selection
As first seen in the Alpha 1, the Alpha 7R V supports the multi-RAW file selection of Compressed RAW, Uncompressed RAW and Lossless RAW. Lossless RAW captures approx. 50% to 80% file size without quality degradation when compared to Uncompressed RAW, saving on storage. RAW file sizes are also supported, with full-frame options of 26MP and 15MP, and APS-C scan options of 26MP and 15MP

Next-generation AF with advanced subject recognition
For Human autofocus recognition, AF acquisition has been dramatically increased through AI with “human pose estimation”, using more than just face and eyes for detection, delivering accurate autofocus even if the subject is wearing sunglasses, a motorbike helmet, or is even facing away from the camera. AF Subject Recognition has also expanded to include Insects, Airplanes, Cars/Trains, in addition to Human, Animal and Birds for both Stills and Movie mode.
The Alpha 7R V utilises an upgraded 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system which delivers up to 8.0-step stabilisation. An updated stabilization algorithm paired with a high-precision gyro sensor provides precise detection and control right down to the single-pixel level, taking full advantage of the sensor’s 61.0 megapixel resolution potential to bring out the finest subject details.
Utilising the high resolution image sensor, the Alpha 7R V is capable of capturing stunning 8K HDR footage at 24/25 frames per second.
Additionally, 4K HDR footage can also be recorded at up to 60fps for 4x slow-motion footage.
