Designed from the ground up for mirrorless cameras, the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens for L-Mount offers a compact telephoto package with excellent image quality and versatile impressive reach.

The optical construction has been optimised for the shorter flange distance found on mirrorless cameras and consists of 22 lens elements in 16 groups. A series of specialised lens elements including one Low Dispersion (FLD) and four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements suppress chromatic aberrations, colour fringing and ensure high clarity and colour accuracy across the whole zoom range.

With a perfect range for moderate sports and action photography, the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary delivers fast, near-silent autofocus thanks to its stepping AF motor optimised for both phase-detect and contrast-based autofocus. The lens' optical stabilisation unit compensates for up to four stops to reduce effects of camera shake for sharper handheld photos.

Additionally, the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens' intuitive controls include a customisable AFL button, an OS switch with a general photography mode and a mode for action, and a zoom-lock switch for transportation as well as a trombone-style zoom Sigma calls Dual Action Zoom. It is also fitted with a rugged brass lens-mount with rubber seal for dust and moisture resistance.

Optics Designed Exclusively for Full-frame Mirrorless Cameras

Designed specifically for a camera with a short flange back distance, the DG DN series of lenses achieve a supreme combination of optical performance and compactness that could not have been possible with lenses for single-lens reflex cameras.

  • 22 Individual Lens Elements in 16 Groups incl.:
  • 1x Low Dispersion (FLD) Elements
  • 4x Special Low Dispersion (SLD) Elements

The lens construction of the SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary comprises 16 groups and 22 elements, with one FLD and four SLDs used for effective correction of aberrations and distortions. With the latest optical design technology optimized for mirrorless systems, the new lens ensures the same high-resolution image quality all the way to the edges of the frame proving the best image quality in its class.

Stepping AF Motor | Full Eye-AF-tracking Support*

Thanks to the stepping motor system that is optimized for both phase-detection AF and contrast AF, the SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary makes shooting with video (AF-C) or eye-tracking AF very smooth.

Powerful Optical Stabilisation with up to 4 steps compensation

In addition to a high-speed and smooth AF enabled by the stepping motor optimized to the latest algorithm, the SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary incorporates powerful image stabilization (OS) of four steps* built into the lens. When combined with a camera body with image stabilization built-in, the lens corrects for pitch and yaw axis rotations, providing even more powerful image stabilization.

Designed to minimize flare and ghosting

From an early stage in the lens design process, flare and ghosting have been measured to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlighting. SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions.

9-Bladed Rounded Aperture Diaphragm

The 9-blade rounded diaphragm creates an attractive blur in the out-of-focus areas of the image.

Intuitive Functions & Ergonomics

With the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens for L-Mount you can easily assign useful functions to the AFL button from the camera body. When shooting sports, for example, you can keep your right hand just to fire the shutter saving your left hand to activate the AF.

  • AFL button | Assign select functions on the camera side and the focus limiter switch that allows optimizing the AF range according to the purpose of shooting.
  • Zoom lock switch | Locks the zoom ring at the widest setting, stopping lens barrel rotation and extension during transport.
  • OS Switch | Switch between Mode 1 for general photography and Mode 2 for sports and other applications requiring panning.

Dual Action Zoom

Sigma calls it 'straight zoom', but the action is more reminiscent of how a trombone moves. This feature allows photographers to zoom in and out by holding onto the lens hood and pulling it forward, enabling intuitive and quick view angle adjustments. The dual action naming comes from the lens supporting both 'straight zoom' and normal ring zoom.

Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens for L-Mount is Ready for Real-life Photography | Compact, lightweight and dust/splash-proof structure

SIGMA designed a light and durable ultra-telephoto zoom lens corresponding to focal lengths of 100-400mm in a compact, lightweight body. This lens is also quite durable, with careful selections to utilize the right materials in the right place. For instance, magnesium alloy is used for the part where a tripod socket is attached, which needs to be very strong.

To allow for paring with camera bodies of different sizes, a tripod socket (sold separately) is available. As this helps reduce any strain on the camera body, photographers can shoot long hours without worry.

Mount with dust- and splash-proof structure

The mount features a special sealing to make the lens an excellent choice in a wide variety of conditions.

High-precision, rugged brass bayonet mount

The brass mount combines high precision with rugged construction. Its treated surfaces and enhanced strength contribute to the exceptional durability of the lens.
