Designed to excel under the most challenging lighting conditions, the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED is capable of focusing quickly for superb images in low-light. With f/1.4 maximum aperture, you can shoot at faster shutter speeds under low-light conditions and capture remarkably sharp images, while the responsive electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism ensures stable auto-exposure control even during high-speed continuous shooting. This results in images that are outstandingly crisp and vivid even in low-light situations within buildings and dimly-lit rooms.
Add a dramatic sense of depth to your compositions with the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED. The ultra-fast portrait lens attains amazingly high resolution across the entire frame including the peripheral areas with sharp and clear rendering at the centre. Superior optical performance is achieved through NIKKOR’s unique “three-dimensional high-fidelity” design concept, allowing for smooth and beautiful bokeh with gradual alteration from the focus planes and a natural depth of field. The nine-blade rounded diaphragm creates a smooth and rounded bokeh, while the enhanced depth of field delivers images that truly stand out.
Enjoy the freedom to capture sharp and vibrant images even under harsh and bright lighting conditions. Engineered with three Extra-low Dispersion glass elements that reduce chromatic aberration to enhance sharpness and contrast, and Nano Crystal Coat to minimise ghosting and flare, the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED resolves portraits, landscapes, and even night sceneries with unmatched colour balance and picture details. A fluorine coating is applied to the extreme front and rear lens surfaces for extra durability to repel dust, water droplets, grease, and dirt for easy maintenance no matter where your photographic journey takes you.

An original optical system of 105mm f/1.4 creates a large bokeh effect with a shallow depth of field, while enabling impressive scene capture and a moderate telephoto compression effect for exquisite photographic expression. Inheriting the concept of “three-dimensional high fidelity” from the AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G, this medium-telephoto lens is designed so that, when shooting near subjects, the focus plane delivers as much sharpness as possible while providing smooth alteration of bokeh as the distance from the focus plane increases, achieving natural reproduction of the subject’s depth. This lens also features excellent bokeh characteristics with less color fringing or unnatural edges.
Sharp rendering is attained for shooting distant subjects throughout the aperture range from the maximum, and when the lens is stopped down by several stops, an extremely high-definition image is realized across the entire frame. In addition, when shooting distant scenes in low-light situations, point light sources are reproduced as point images with minimized sagittal coma flare, an aberration where a point image located at the peripheries forms a conspicuous image resembling a bird spreading its wings, resulting in clear and crisp night landscape shots.
The employment of three ED glass elements reduces chromatic aberration (especially axial chromatic aberration) while enhancing sharpness and contrast, and Nano Crystal Coat delivers outstandingly high anti-reflection effect throughout the visible light range, effectively minimizing ghost and flare effects even under harsh lighting.
Utilizing the high optical technologies that Nikon has long accumulated, a traditional 105 mm focal-length lens with fast f/1.4 maximum aperture is realized incorporating an AF system, making the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED a very individual fast, medium-telephoto lens that enables creative image expression. The bright finder image achieved with this fast, prime lens that reliably supports comfortable shooting is effective in handheld shooting for low-light scenes as well. While ensuring impressive subject depiction for shooting portraits and still objects utilizing the large and beautiful bokeh with gradual transition from the focus plane, this lens also delivers excellent distant shots with high resolution even at the periphery and high reproduction capability of point light sources in low-light situations. The latest technologies also provide stable AE with highly accurate diaphragm control even during high-speed continuous shooting, via the adoption of an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism.
Nikon’s original fluorine coat that effectively repels dust, water droplets, grease or dirt for easy removal even if they adhere to the lens surface is applied to the extreme front and rear surfaces. Compared to other manufacturers’ coatings of a similar kind, fluorine coat endures a higher frequency of lens surface wiping and provides longer-duration staying power. It also features superb anti-reflection effect, ensuring the capture of clear images.
