We have paired the brand new Sony ZV-1 Digital Camera and the essential Sony VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip available at digiDirect.
The Sony ZV-1 Digital Camera with Sony VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip is a great way to get started vlogging - and telling your story.
Make vlogging easy with the new Sony ZV-1 Digital Camera from Sony which has a number of features and modes intended to make vlogging easier. Its large 1-inch 20.1MP Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor & BIONZ X image processor, with front-end LSI plus 24-70mm equiv. f1.8-2.8 lens produces stunning results with professional background bokeh, as well as clear detail even in challenging low-light conditions. In the imaging department, the Sony ZV-1 performs similar to the renowned RX100 series cameras like the RX100 III, IV, V and VA that this camera builds upon. Unlike those cameras, the Sony ZV-1 uses a side-opening fully articulating touchscreen called Vari-angle, a first for Sony - and its ergonomics allow for vlogging, selfie-style operation and other face-the-camera shooting.
Filming vlogs are often frustrating experiences. From finding the stories, angles to what to say and all the rest - the last thing you need to worry about is the focus. The Sony ZV-1 Vlog Camera excels when it comes to making sure your content is in focus. Building on Sony's impressive Eye AF the camera focuses onto and tracks faces/eyes in real-time. The new Product Showcase setting is a true groundbreaking focus mode if you have ever had a camera loose focus to the background. It lets the camera switch focus between the self shooter/presenter and a product or object placed closer to the lens - no more 'waving', holding a hand behind the object or other silly tricks to get the camera to focus! Object tracking focus mode is also available and multiple subjects can be tracked and switched between. Both autofocus speed and tracking sensitivity are adjustable settings in this mode. Additionally, a directional three-capsule microphone on top of the camera ensures clear audio recording, even in windy conditions by use of the included windscreen which mounts onto the Multi Interface Shoe.
In-body stabilisation and the latest generation of BIOZ X image processor is also included for smooth and steady footage. The Sony ZV-1 Camera can record 4K video with full pixel readout and no pixel binning in the XAVC S codec. Hybrid Log Gamma mode, alongside S-Gamut3.Cine / S-Log3, and S-Gamut3 / S-Log3 are available and slow-motion video is possible at up to 1000fps. For the professional content creator, there's also a front-mounted tally light, to indicate when the camera is recording.
When filming a longer piece to the camera the Sony ZV-1 has you covered with a 3.5mm microphone input for external audio and a Multi Interface Shot for mounting microphones, LED lights or other accessories making your content creation a breeze in the park. Simply put, Sony designed the ZV-1 to shoot better, look better and sound better - creating the ultimate tool for on-the-go filming for vloggers, content creators and the casual videographer.
For the stills shooter, and useful when promoting your content on social media - the ZV-1 features two selectable modes of "Background Bokeh". You can select how much background blur you want without losing focus on the main subject, this feature is easily accessible via a switch on the top of the camera body. Use the background defocus mode to automatically open the aperture to its maximum setting, brighten your face and capture natural skin tones every time.
Built for the demands of video and filmmakers, the Sony ZV-1 is optimised with a suite of powerful vlogging features:
The ZV-1 makes all skin colours look vibrant, natural and healthy. There’s also an optional Soft Skin Effect mode for a smoother look. The Sony ZV-1 is designed to capture amazing videos of you and your world, without any tricky setup.
AI2 technology ensures the autofocus sticks firmly to your face and eyes without wandering to other subjects. When you want to focus on another subject, just touch it on the screen and let the camera do the focusing.
Express yourself with creative effects: Picture Effects and Creative Styles allow for near-limitless visual possibilities – from simple monochrome and partial colour effects, right through to complex miniature effects.
The all-new Bokeh Switch button offers artistic control, simply by pressing the C1 button you can switch background bokeh on and off – no need for complex manual adjustments. When turned on, the background will fall away into an exquisite soft-focus, removing any distracting elements while making the presenter stand out
Now it is easy to produce content with a professional-looking defocused background or keep the entire scene in focus, it is just the press of one button.
The Face Priority auto-exposure function of the ZV-1 will ensure that your face is always correctly exposed.
If you are in an environment with variable lighting, like anytime the sun shoots in and out from under the tree branches, this technology ensures that if there is a sudden change in exposure the camera will suppress any unexpected blowouts or overly dark shots.
Built to get great shots while you’re moving the amazing image stabilisation of the ZV-1 means you can shoot smooth video while walking.
S-Log2 and S-Log3 gamma controls are available for camera matching and flexibility in colour grading, along with a range of picture profile settings to create your perfect aesthetic.
Make every movement more cinematic with Super Slow Motion video, capturing the most fleeting of moments for playback at up to 40x slower than real-time - although at reduced resolution.
The ZV-1's Interval shooting mode automatically captures sequences of images from 1 – 60 seconds apart, from which cinematic time-lapse videos can be created on a PC, where clouds flow past like water and whole days pass in seconds.
The ZV-1 is equipped with a Directional 3-capsule Mic, which has been designed for forward directional audio capture. Intended for people who are shooting selfies, Sony says the ZV-1 Vlog Camera can capture clear vocals even when shooting in a crowd. There's also a 3.5mm mic jack and a multi interface shoe so that external mics can be connected. The camera arrives with a windscreen for its internal mic included in the box solving one of the major issues with using an RX100 series camera for vlogging.
The supplied windscreen reduces wind noise for worry-free outdoor shooting. As well as achieving premium sound quality, that also means you’ll spend less time re-shooting and editing footage affected by wind noise.
With a microphone jack and MI shoe, you can pick from your choice of mics, to get exactly the sound you want.
Designed for the workflow of Vloggers and Content Creators, the Digital Camera ZV-1 introduces a fully articulated Vari-angle LCD touch screen that flips out horizontally, making it perfect for selfies and vlogging. Clear of ports, microphones and the Mi Hotshoe, it allows for precise framing and fluid operation while ensuring framing and eye-lines are accurate.
Also, as a camera designed for one-hand use, not only is the camera lightweight at only 294g, but the grip has been designed to be comfortable when holding the camera faced backwards for selfies and longer times when vlogging. A tally light also makes it super easy to check if the camera is recording and you're always ready with an easy to reach record button.
The Product Showcase Setting allows you to switch with just a single button press to settings that are perfect for product reviews. It widens the angle of view and switches the focus to the object instantly, so you don't need to wait for the focus to shift, or place your hand behind the product to shift the focus to it.
Advanced stacked structure and integrated DRAM chip enable the 20.1MP 1" Exmor RS CMOS sensor to deliver outstanding image quality from ISO 100-12800 with incredibly fast performance. Stacking the pixel area, high-speed signal processing circuit, and memory increases data throughput and delivers features such as Single Burst Shooting, an Anti-Distortion shutter, UHD 4K video, and more. This 1" sensor also has 315 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection areas for faster, more precise focusing.
Paired with a revised BIONZ X image processor and front-end LSI continuous shooting is blackout-free at up to 24 fps with continuous AF/AE calculations being performed at 60 times per second. The front-end LSI and enhanced sensor performance also improve overall image quality, especially at higher sensitivities, by reducing noise and offering higher perceived resolution and colour definition.
Spanning a useful 24-70mm equivalent range, the integrated ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens suits working in a wide range of situations. Despite its compact, retractable form factor, the lens still retains a bright f/1.8-2.8 maximum aperture range that benefits working in low-light conditions as well as isolating subject matter using shallow depth of field techniques. The advanced optical design incorporates a series of specialized elements and a ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has also been applied to suppress reflections and glare for improved contrast and colour fidelity. This flexible reach is complemented by Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake.
The ZV-1 design makes creating outstanding selfie and vlog content easy. Right down to the last detail, the ZV-1 is all about empowering you to make inspirational content.
There’s no longer a need to compromise your images with your smartphone camera just to share content quickly. The ZV-1 delivers both stunning images and seamless connectivity, for better and easier posting.
The free Imaging EdgeTM Mobile app for iOS and Android lets you simply transfer, edit and upload images shot on the ZV-1 instantly to social media platforms, from wherever you are.
Use the Movie Edit add-on to apply enhanced stabilisation for especially shaky shots, or reframe and crop video to suit popular social media aspect ratios.
With automatic tagging of vertically oriented videos, you can upload content custom-made for smartphone screens.
The ZV-1 records immensely detailed 4K HDR video through 1.7x pixel re-sampling so you can capture reality without any compromise.
A unique tool to help improve stability, the Sony VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip is a flexible accessory that serves as both a larger grip for handheld shooting as well as a sleek tabletop tripod.
