A Review by 2021 Ambasador: Samuel Elbourne

The 5DMKIV is a professional grade camera built with the intention to be a well rounded
camera body.
My first impressions are the typical canon 5D architecture and quality with the usual
weather sealing, robustness and menu system that you’d come to expect from a
Canon product.
One of the main highlights of this camera is the ISO performance in low light.
Since using the 5DMKIV I’ve shoot in poorly lit conditions and it has achieved clean
images every time.
The new AF system has 61 AF points and works very similarly to the 1DXMKII focusing
fast and accurate across the viewfinder and with the new focus shifting technology,
through the Dual Pixel AF, this can be adjusted in post using Canons DPR software.
The 30.4mp Full Frame CMOS sensor makes this a good body for wedding and
landscape photographers or anyone needing a lot of detail in their work.

Pros
• Pro grade build quality and weather sealed
• Canon colour science (great for skin tones)
• 4k 30fps
• 30.4mp Full Frame CMOS sensor
• Touch screen display with Dual Pixel AF
• GPS+Wifi

Cons
• Cropped 1.64x video at 4k
• MJEP video codec at 4k (non flexible and large file codec)

Other features
• Built in time-lapse mode
• Built in HDR mode
• 1xCF card slot and 1xSDHD card slot
• 7 frames a second

Summary
Overall you get what you pay for with a Canon professional body. Although if you are
looking to shoot sport or other subjects requiring a faster frame rate I would suggest
paying the extra money and upgrading to the 1DX series.
