The Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 9mm f/1.7 ASPH. Lens is a close-focusing wide-angle prime ideally suited for landscapes, cityscapes, and close-up scenes. Featuring a unique half-macro design, this lens offers a minimum focusing distance of just 9.5cm with an outstanding magnification ratio of 0.25x (35mm camera equivalent: 0.5x) - making it an excellent choice for photographing and filming everything from close-ups of plants and small details to street scenes and vistas.

Videographers and photographers alike will be impressed by the smooth, fast and silent autofocus performance, as well as the repeatable manual focus capability. Micro-step aperture control enables the aperture blades smooth and seamless open/close without visible steps, perfect when recording video with variable lighting conditions.

Optimized for video as well as stills, this lens provides smooth and near-silent autofocus performance to complement movie recording applications, and the lens is also compatible with smooth exposure changes while recording video.

The DG Summilux 9mm f/1.7 ASPH lens' optical design comprises twelve elements in nine groups including two aspherical lenses, two ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens to suppress both axial and magnification chromatic aberration. Astigmatism is also corrected with these aspherical lenses, achieving high resolving performance. Furthermore, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens achieves uniform image quality from the centre to the edges of the image and contributes to the lens' small size.

A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus techniques, and the lens also offers a weather-resistant design to protect the optics during heavy field use and harsh conditions.

  • Lightweight and rugged wide-angle prime specifically designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless digital cameras, where it provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 18mm
  • Bright f/1.7 maximum aperture well-suited to working in difficult and low lighting conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for selective focus techniques
  • Two aspherical elements are featured in the lens' design, which help to maintain a compact form factor as well as help to reduce spherical aberrations and distortions
  • Two extra-low dispersion (ED) elements and one ultra-high refractive index (UHR) element work to significantly minimise colour fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased colour fidelity and edge-to-edge sharpness
  • The smooth and near-silent autofocus performance complements movie recording applications while the quick operation is beneficial to still photographers
  • Excellent video performance with a mechanical design that suppresses focus breathing. Also compatible with micro-step aperture control, which enables smooth exposure changes while recording video
  • Half-macro design benefits working with close-up subjects and provides a minimum focusing distance of just 9.5cm
  • A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when making shallow depth of field imagery
  • 55mm filter diameter
  • Dust, splash, and freeze-resistant design protects the lens during heavy field use and harsh conditions
