It's official, the final Canon EOS R5 specifications are out and Canon has not saved anything for later, this camera is truly a beast!
The brand new Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Full-frame Camera features a 45 Megapixels sensor with a 5-axis stabiliser (IBIS) supporting up to 8 stops of stabilisation in combination with lens-based Optical Image Stabilisation. It shoots up to 12 fps using its mechanical shutter and up to impressive 20 fps by the electronic shutter with 100% autofocus coverage. The EOS R5 promises spectacular performance for both landscape, action photography and also wildlife photos with its Animal detection AF which steadily tracks and detects bodies, faces or eyes of animal subjects.

Serious internal recording video super-powers in the Canon R5 allows you to record 8K RAW format video up to 30 fps and 8K 4:2:2 10-bit Canon LOG or HDR PQ in a H.265 codec. What is more, the EOS R5 also shoots slow motion video in 4K with Dual Pixel AF enabled at up to 120 fps 4:2:2 10-bit in both Canon LOG and HDR PQ (H.265) for smooth slow-motion videos.
Canon has also included, as a first for EOS 5 series cameras, a fully-articulated vari-angle screen perfect for high and low shots as well as vlogging. The EOS R5's responsive EVF is equally made for the concerning professional with 5.76 megapixels resolution and 119.88 fps refresh rate sure to suit any sports photographers needs!
Additionally, the camera supports dual memory cards, of one a CFexpress and the other SD UHS-II enabled slot. As for size and weight, the Canon EOS R5 measures in at 138.5 x 97.5 x 88.0 mm and weighs around 738 grams including battery and memory cards.
The new 45 Megapixels sensor of the Canon EOS R5 offers amazing resolution for large prints, landscape and architecture photography or for any photographer that likes to refine their compositions when editing. The maximum burst speed may also decrease due to shutter speed, aperture, flash usage, flicker reduction processing, subject conditions and brightness.
Combined with select Canon RF lenses with lens stabilisation (IS) like the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM the Canon EOS R5 can deliver up to 8 shutter stops of camera shake compensation. Canon's Coordinated Control IS cleverly combines the cameras 5-axis IBIS, which is available for all lenses with or without stabilisation, with lens-based stabilisation for increased effectiveness.

EOS R5 gives you greater flexibility in post-processing with its 8K video recording capabilities, a first for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. The Canon EOS R5 is able to record 8K video in multiple codec flavours including RAW from its full-frame sensor without cropping the sensor so your full-frame wide-angle lenses stay wide for maximum impact. Even more impressive is Canon's renowned Dual Pixel AF which is available in all video recording modes on the EOS R5. Dual Pixel AF is one of the best video autofocus systems out there and a proven life-saver for any solo content creator using Canon cameras.
One of the many benefits of 8K video recording is that you get around four times the detail of 4K video and the ability to export around 33 megapixels still frames out of video footage which opens up for new creative possibilities. If you shoot video and like to have the ability to zoom in while editing you are now no longer limited to only producing for HD delivery as you can zoom up to 4x without a noticeable quality loss! 8k oversampling also enables much higher-quality 4k movie recording resulting in sharper UHD videos from the EOS R5.
Canon EOS R5's recording limit for 8K videos (RAW. DCI, UHD) is restricted to a maximum recording time of around 20 minutes at room temperature due to internal camera temperature limitations. Canon has measured this when setting crop to [Off] and up to 29.97 fps / 25 fps.

Following in the footsteps of the EOS 5 series, the EOS R5 is constructed from a magnesium-alloy body with strategic weather-sealing at selected locations to ensure high operability and reliability. The body features three control dials; a main dial and two quick control dials for fast and ergonomic use. Canon has listened to feedback from users and AF points can now be selected with a traditional joystick multi-controller within easy reach of a user's thumb.

The CFexpress card supports high-speed transfer, allowing the camera to perform continuous shooting of 45-megapixel still images, at up to 20 fps, as well as internal recording of 8K RAW movies.
Canon has put a responsive electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 5.76 Megapixels resolution in the EOS R5 which promises smooth performance when switching between using the monitor and the EVF while also being great for burst shooting. The viewfinder supports brightness, colour tone and fine-tuning of colour tone adjustments as well as having optimised EVF optics.
The inclusion of a fully-articulated Vari-angle LCD monitor makes it easier to shoot from high and low angles or shoot in portrait orientation. An articulated screen like this is a must for any video content creator looking to vlog with the Canon EOS R5 or any creator working alone creating presentation pieces in front of camera.
A top-mounted dot matrix LCD display allows you to turn off the main monitor to save power and still be able to check various settings and shooting mode on this display with a quick glance at the top of the camera.
With the EOS R5 Canon also introduced a new battery the LP-E6NH for longer battery life with around 14% increased battery life. It also keeps backwards compatibility with older LP-E6 style batteries and accessories.
Additionally, the EOS R5 also supports an optional BG-R10 Battery Grip for even longer battery life and improved comfort when shooting for an extended time, in portrait orientation, or with longer telephoto lenses.
The Canon EOS R5 supports IEEE802.11ac Wi-Fi standard and 5GHz* wireless LAN it is also compatible with image.canon and fully automatic image data transfer to the cloud.
