The Sony PXW-Z190 4K 3-CMOS 1/3 Sensor XDCAM Camcorder captures 4K video at up to 60p in 4:2:0 8-bit, and HD at up to 60p in 4:2:2 10-bit. It features three 1/3" Exmor R sensors that provide improved low-light capability when compared to standard sensors. The camera integrates a 25x optical Sony G zoom lens and an electronic variable ND filter. The camera supports a variety of codecs out of the box, with an optional MPEG HD license enabling you to shoot HD video.

Instant HDR via HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) recording means you can deliver stunning imagery compatible with both HDR (high dynamic range) and SDR (standard dynamic range) quickly without the need for additional colour grading. Dual MI Shoe allows simultaneous use of wireless audio and video lighting, while advanced network performance support over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is easily enabled when required via firmware 2.0 or higher and optional paid firmware upgrade.

The PXW-Z190 has a 25x optical zoom lens and face detection autofocus. You can zoom from 28.8mm to 720mm (35mm equivalent) and three independent control rings allow manual control of focus, zoom and iris. Dual SD card slots permit a variety of recording options including simultaneous HD and 4K recording. While broadcast friendly audio is taken care of through 4 channels of audio recording by the use of two XLR inputs and the ability to attach the optional URX-P03D 2-channel wireless receiver to Z190's Dual MI Shoes

4K 50p/60p with a stunning 25x zoom lens

This superb all-round pro camcorder is the de facto choice for a wide range of 4K and HD single camera shoots with an all-new 1/3-type 3CMOS sensor. The Z190's powerful 25x zoom lens features three independent lens rings aND delivers pin-sharp 4K imaging for almost any professional shooting scenario. Advanced Face Detection AF and Sony’s unique Electronic Variable ND filter makes shooting great content stress-free.

25x Professional Zoom lens with Three Independent Control Rings

The PXW-Z190 is equipped with a 25x professional zoom lens able to zoom from 28.8mm to 720mm (35mm equivalent). Three independent control rings allows manual control of focus, zoom and iris, for better and faster adjustment on the job.

Additionally, the image can be enlarged in HD mode up to 50x zoom equivalent while maintaining Full HD resolution thanks to a digital extender.

Built-in electronic Variable ND Filters
Integrated electronic variable ND Filters enables fast, agile shooting. Moving from shadowy interiors to bright sun-lit exteriors is no problem with the PXW-Z190.

  • Unlike conventional optical ND filters, the electronic ND filter on the PXW-Z190 can be controlled from 1/4ND to 1/128ND linearly and ND Filters can also be set to full auto.

4K 1/3-type 3CMOS Sensor

The PXW-Z190 is the world’s first professional camcorder with a 4K (QFHD) 1/3-inch type sensor. Red, blue, and green light are independently captured by separate image sensors within the Exmor RTM system in 3840 x 2160 resolution at up to 60fps. Even if you’re delivering in HD, 4:2:2 10bit recordings will capture detail and image texture that HD sensors simply cannot see.

Advanced Face Detection AF
The PXW-Z190 features newly developed Face detection AF. You can choose between Face Priority AF and Face Only AF. Simply keep the person in frame and be confident the PXW-Z190 will keep your subject in pin-sharp focus however you move to obtain a better angle.

 

A wealth of formats and features for professionals

Sony’s familiar control layout and robust build quality make this a camera you can rely upon. It supports a wide range of formats including XAVC-Long, DVCAM, MPEG HD422/ MPEG HD* and Proxy 1080i. Dual SD slots, 3G-SDI output and Remote Terminal ensure it can support all workflow scenarios.

HLG | Instant HDR workflow

Shoot, edit and view HDR content in HLG without the need for additional colour grading. Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) recording enables easy file-based workflows, whilst achieving the image quality of HDR.

XAVC Long GOP recording at QFHD and Full-HD

XAVC technology based on the H.264 standard, provides an exceptionally robust and efficient compression technology reducing file sizes for fast ingest, editing plus budget savings on recording media. In HD shooting, the XAVC codec adopts 10-bit sampling for high definition recording with rich tonal expression.

MPEG HD422 and MPEG HD (requires CBKZ-SLMP upgrade license)

Broadcast-standard high-quality MPEG HD422 50 Mbps,, fully compliant with the latest EBU recommendations for long-form broadcast production, makes the PXW-Z190 ideal for a wide range of different applications, including newsgathering and documentary production.

DVCAM at 25 Mbps in MXF file format

Many broadcasters and production houses still utilise the proven DVCAM format and PXW-Z190 provides support at the flick of a switch.

Dual Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe
Sony's MI Shoe provides cable-less signal connections, eliminating the risk of accidental disconnection and coordinated on/off switching with compatible Sony accessories. Connectors at the front and back of the camcorder maximize operational flexibility with the use of up to two different MI Shoe accessories at the same time.

Dual XLR and 4 Channel Audio
The PXW-Z190 offers four-channel audio recording with two independent volume dials enabling precision control of external audio inputs, including an MI-shoe attached microphone.

Dual SD media slots
The camcorder is equipped with two SD memory card slots, which can record in either Relay or Simul and Back up modes for HD operation.

  • Simul mode | simultaneous recording to two memory cards, ideal for archival purposes.
  • Relay mode | switches recording from the first to the second memory card when the first is full.
  • Back up mode | allows the two Start/Stop buttons on the PXW-Z190 to independently start and stop recording on different memory cards while recording in Simul mode.

Network workflow flexibility
PXW-Z190 comes with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi as standard – simply turn on and log onto your preferred network. Install the free ‘Content Browser Mobile’ app** on your smartphone to operate the camera remotely controlling Iris, Zoom, Focus WB and other functions from the palm of your hand. One-touch authentication is also possible with smartphones that offer NFC connectivity.

The Z190 is also easily upgraded to offer all the below features with optional CBKZ-SLNW1.
