HDF Design and Creative Control
The Highlight Diffusion Filter can be activated or deactivated instantly using a dedicated rear function button, which can also be reassigned if preferred. This allows photographers to switch between a clean and diffused look without slowing down their workflow. The GR IV HDF also features a distinctive silver shutter release button, giving it a subtle visual identity that sets it apart from other GR models.
New Sensor and Faster Performance
At the heart of the GR IV HDF is a new 25.7MP APS-C back-illuminated CMOS sensor paired with the latest GR Engine 7 processor. This combination delivers cleaner images, reduced noise, and a full stop improvement in low-light performance. Start-up time is faster, autofocus is more responsive, and sensitivity extends up to ISO 204800, whilst maintaining support for 14-bit DNG and JPEG recording.
Advanced Autofocus and Stabilisation
Autofocus performance has been significantly improved thanks to enhanced processing and a redesigned, lighter lens. Face detection, eye detection, and subject tracking are more accurate, particularly in low-light conditions. The Full Press Snap function remains a standout feature, allowing instant focus at a preset distance for decisive street photography. A new 5-axis Shake Reduction system provides up to six stops of compensation, greatly improving handheld shooting stability.
Refined Lens and Shooting Options
The redesigned 28mm equivalent f/2.8 lens delivers noticeably improved sharpness whilst maintaining the classic GR field of view. Its compact optical design supports faster focusing and includes a dedicated macro mode for close-up shooting. Expanded shooting modes include high-speed electronic shutter, enhanced exposure control, multi-exposure capture, highlight-weighted metreing, and Full HD video recording at up to 60p.
Body Design and Connectivity
The GR IV HDF features an even slimmer magnesium alloy body for a more secure grip whilst remaining highly portable. Battery life has been extended with the new DB-120 battery, and internal storage has increased to 53GB alongside microSD card support. A redesigned control layout improves usability, whilst the 3.0-inch touchscreen LCD offers enhanced outdoor visibility. Wireless connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi pairs seamlessly with the GR WORLD app for image transfer, remote control, and location data, completing a modern yet character-rich compact camera system.
